Harry Stanfield DOB 12/21/1919

Harry Stanfield and his father Buck owned and operated a general store and gas pumps at forks of Burlington road / US 70 and Buffalo Creek.  There was plenty of checker games on the weekend and especially Sunday afternoons into the evenings at Stanfield's Store. Harry also owned a farm and residence close by on highway 70.  I recall Tim Laverty, Teal & Bill Stanley, and Garland Phillips talking about the checker games at the store.  Tim spend a lot of time playing there when he was attending UNC-Greensboro in the 80-90's.  Harry like to off shore fish in Florida and spent a lot of time there.  He later sold the store after Buck died and move to Florida.  No more checkers there now.
